The National Education CollaborationTrust (NECT) congratulates Dr. Sizwe Nasana on his completion of a PhD at Aalborg University in Denmark.

His thesis, titled ‘Navigating Teacher Learning in a Context of Implementing Project-Based Learning in South African K12 Education‘, was conducted amidst significant educational reforms in South African schools.
These reforms aimed to equip students with 21st-century skills, necessitating teachers to grasp and actively engage with novel pedagogical approaches.
The PhD project delved into how teachers navigate professional learning while implementing PBL, examining shifts in their beliefs, teaching practices, and professional engagement
Life-long passion for education reform
This milestone is a testament to Dr. Nasana’s lifelong passion for education reform in South Africa, especially in his role as the chairperson of the NECT board.
Dr. Nasana’s leadership has been instrumental in the NECT’s successful implementation of education improvement projects that have supported the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable improvements in education.
To date, the NECT has reached and impacted over 22,812 (90%) of schools and 130,000 (25%) of South Africa’s teaching force.
